Synopsis
The main character Kurosaki Ichigo is a 15 year old boy. He has an ability not many of people have; he can see ghosts/spirits. Because of his ability he meets a female Death God, or Shinigami, named Kuchiki Rukia. Ichigo is forced to save his family and friends from soul-easting spirits (Hollows), Rukia is forced to transfer her Shinigami powers to Ichigo. As Rukia takes gigai (Human Shell), Ichigo becomes her substitute Shingami. They solve Hollow mysteries, until two other Shinigami's from the Soul Society (Heaven), explain that it is illegal to transfer Shinigami powers to a human, Rukia also stayed too long in the Human world. Once they sentence Rukia to death, Ichigo swear he will get Rukia, by breaking into the Soul Society.
Review
At first, I didn't think this anime was going to be good, my friend had told me to watch it, but the first episode got me hooked. The show is focused on Ichigo who has an incredibly large amount of Spirit Power. In having this spirit power he can see Hollows, big giant spirit monsters. In being able to see spirits, he meets a Shinigami, but shortly after his family is attacked, the Shinigami wounded. The Shinigami is forced to give him her powers. (I've seen every episode, since it is still airing.)
The animation in the show is top notch. The animation doesn't get dull at any moment either, stays the same even during fighting sequences. The animation did get dark black outlines during fillers, but the animation still stayed good.
The characters in the story all balance each other out I think. There are ego maniacs, dumb people, serious people, and quiet people.
Ichigo himself is a very serious dude. Even with his laziness Rukia makes sure he does his duty, this he becomes more and more serious throughout the show.
Kon produces the comedy in the show, mainly because he a plushy and can get easily beat on by other characters. The main thing that makes him funny is his perverted ness, and the way he describes some things. Kon is a 'mod' soul they were produced so that souls that came to real world, with gigais, the mod souls would take the bodies, while the spirits fought Hollows.
Rukia she is the most serious character, but can produce comedy since she is from the sprit world, she doesn't know every day things, like what coffee is, or how to use a juice box.
Renji, he is the equivalent of Rukia, and Ichigo, he has a very large ego, but he is from the spirit world.
Chad is the big silent guy. At a few points in the show he will put you in aw, because of his enormous strength, but he is gentle, which adds to the mix.
Inoue she is the dumb redhead, with very, very large breast. She has a somewhat hidden crush on Ichigo, and in a lot of the episodes you will hear her say Kurosaki, over and over.
Ishida, he is the more emotional character, in the sense of his powers, and the cause for his mental strength. He produces a little comedy. But, he produces a lot of seriousness, and drama.
Later in the show more characters come up, that add to the character, but their minor. All the characters eventually get powers, because of Ichigo's leaking spiritual power.
In my opinion the storyline is pretty complex. The way the show could produce a twist, of a twist, kind of twisted. Unfortunately during the fillers, it got a little boring, but the arcs they created still kept you on your feet, just as the non-fillers. Every episode would want me to watch more, and more, and would make it seem like forever till the next one.
Conclusion
In all, the show is great, very well thought out. The action was great, and the fight scenes, kept you hooked, the way the tension built, as well as the characters.
